From Indie to Indy

After four eventful days in Portland, I’m now nestled in my hometown of Carmel, Indiana, where I can actually drive a car and purchase all of my items in one store!

On my last day in Portland, we decided to check out The Bagdad, a staple of the city.  The theatre is designed like a Middle Eastern restaurant and features great happy hour deals. The best part is that the theatre lets the audience bring in their food and drink while they enjoy their indie film. We decided to go on a night where they played films produced by local filmmakers. We saw 11  films that ranged from existential cartoons to environmental documentaries to short comedies with local actors. I gotta say, some of them were quite good. They had interesting camera angles, good acting and dialogue, and were quirky in their own ways. But some of them, I just didn’t get….
